Sunshine Coast Council is committed to achieving a Strong Community goal which encourages a healthy and active community via active transport modes (walking and cycling).
Council is working on a safe walking and cycling link along Karawatha Drive suitable for new and existing bicycle riders including children walking, scootering and riding to school. The Karawatha Cycle Track project will see a separated cycle track added to both directions of traffic on Karawatha Drive between Prelude Drive and Golf Links Road.
This will provide a low stress walking and cycling network suitable for all ages and abilities, linking communities within our Sunshine Coast region. In 2021, Council distributed information about the project to residents along Karawatha Drive.
After reviewing feedback from the residents and aligning with best practice design, council has updated concept design options and would like further feedback from the community on the preferred option.
