A planned hazard burn is happening at Palmview on Saturday 11/9/21

🔥PLANNED BURN NOTIFICATION – Saturday 11 September 2021 – Lower Mooloolah River Environment Reserve, PALMVIEW🔥

Weather dependant, Sunshine Coast Council, will be conducting a hazard reduction burn Saturday.

When:

Saturday 11 September 2021

Approximately 9AM to 7PM

Burn location:

Lower Mooloolah River Environment Reserve, Claymore Road, PALMVIEW. Map Attached

Lot on Plan: 37SP300422, 1SP300404 & & 2RP27760

Details:

As a component of the Sunshine Coast Council fire management program, a section of Lower Mooloolah River Environment Reserve has been identified as requiring a prescribed burn.

The aim of this burn is to reduce the volume of forest fuels and to improve a kangaroo habitat area.

The burn will be coordinated by council with assistance from the rural fire brigade.

The burn will be conducted under a permit to light fire issued to council from the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services.

Burn area – 38 hectares

Park Closure:

Lower Mooloolah River Environment Reserve will be closed during burn operations and for at least a day following the burn. For safety, please comply with signage.

Smoke:

Smoke from the fire will be closely monitored and is not expected to significantly affect surrounding businesses, residents or road ways.

Smoke may be noticed in immediate areas surrounding Lower Mooloolah River Environment Reserve, including the following roads,

• Peter Crosby Way

• Claymore Road

• Red Cedar Street

• Wisteria Crescent

• University Way

• Laxton Road

• Kawana Way

• Corbould Way

• Rainforest Drive

• Woodlands Boulevard

• Honey Farm Road

• Caloundra Road

• Smoke plumes may be noticed from further afield.

As a precaution, signage will be in place, road users are advised to drive to suit conditions, with some potential for smoke to reduce visibility.

Residents and business owners (if affected by smoke) are advised to close windows and doors, utilise air-conditioning and keep respiratory medication close at hand.

Seek medical advice if you are susceptible to bushfire smoke.

Light residual smoke may be experienced for up to one [1] day following this period.

Signage will be in place, during the burn.
