A long-term project to guide the development of a draft Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan is underway and council wants to hear what you think.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said improving the quality of open space, addressing aging park infrastructure and creating a park network for Sippy Downs would be the key focus of the consultation.
“I’m really excited to launch the first phase of the Sippy Downs Master Plan project, which I personally committed to at the March election,” Cr Dickson said.
“Addressing the aging park infrastructure in Sippy Downs and developing a parks network that provides quality for the community is a priority.
“Identifying opportunities for future upgrades within the park network will provide a framework to guide and shape the future of the parks in Sippy Downs .
“Over the next few weeks, council officers will be conducting park user surveys at your local park, your feedback will inform council about the community’s desires and expectations for upgrades to these parks and the overall park network.
“The survey outcomes will help guide future development of a Sippy Downs park network.
“Subject to community feedback, council will use this consultation to guide the development of the draft Sippy Downs Park Master Plan.
“It’s important that the community share their views now as we want to ensure the future draft master plan is realistic and considers the expectations and capacity of council and stakeholders.
“The draft master plan will then be available for public feedback before seeking council’s approval to start a detailed planning phase and staged program of construction, over future years, subject to funding.”
This community consultation follows investigations that show improvements to the quality of open space in Sippy Downs is a necessity to better meet community needs and expectations.
Residents can complete a short online survey before 5pm Friday, November 18.
