Council is set to install new street lighting on Stringybark Road to enhance the area for Sippy Downs’ growing population and University of the Sunshine Coast’s rising student numbers.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said the new lights would help create a safer environment for those who often walked the area on their way to local services such as the new Coles supermarket and the university.
Installation is expected to be completed in late October.
“I have been extremely passionate about upgrading the lighting along Stringybark Road given the high number of people using this key link between Buderim and the University, particularly during the evenings,” Cr Dickson said.
“There is also a strong need for council to carry out future upgrades to the walkway and cycle facilities along this vital corridor.
“I intend to push this issue further and I appreciate residents’ support in addressing this key project.”
This project is one of many civil asset upgrade projects that will be funded through council’s $237 million Capital Works Program this financial year.
